SANTAL ORIENTAL
The Story Behind Santal Oriental
This one started with a really beautiful batch of sandalwood — dry, warm, a bit rough around the edges. It had that desert-like texture I hadn’t come across in a while, and I knew I wanted to build around it.
Around the same time, we got hold of a Bulgarian rose absolute that felt different. It wasn’t soft or dewy — it was dense, dry, and had a kind of quiet depth to it. It just fit. Not to take over, but to bring shape to the composition.
Sandalwood became the frame, supported by amber and dry woods. The rose stayed beneath it all — shaping, not leading.
This one was never about flourish — it was about form. Quiet presence, clear structure, and the kind of balance that rewards close attention.
Fragrance Description
Modern. Composed. Quietly unforgettable.
From the first breath, Oriental Santal feels like it belongs in a glass case under soft lights — the kind of fragrance you’d expect from a luxury fashion house known for precision and restraint.
It opens with subtle clarity — bergamot and cardamom, fresh but composed. Then, a shift:
A dark, dry Bulgarian rose appears, velvety and rich, laced with gentle fruit and softened by jasmine sambac. This is not a sweet rose. It’s elegant, mature — edged with warmth and mystery.
As the scent deepens, the true signature emerges: smooth Western Australian sandalwood, polished and creamy, layered with fossilized amber, patchouli, cassia, and guaiacwood. There’s spice, but it’s measured. Musk hums beneath the surface, bringing the whole composition into focus.
Every element moves with intention. Nothing is loud, yet nothing is forgettable.
If it came from a luxury house, you’d see it everywhere.
But it didn’t — and that’s exactly what sets it apart.
For those who don’t need their fragrance to shout — only to be remembered.
